He who restrains his words has knowledge,
And he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
Men who talk much are either uncertain and confused or anxious and insecure. In any case, their minds are too hot.
With every word you speak in vain, all the words you will ever speak lose power.
You made a mistake?—Say “sorry.” Why are you making excuses?
You were asked a favor?—Say “yes” or “no.” Why are you explaining yourself?
You want to prove a point?—Take proper action. Why would you battle with language?
You are told a story?—Just listen. Why would you need to add something to someone else’s story?
You were asked a long, complicated question?—Give a short, simple answer. Did you not get the gist?
You were invited to gossip or told a nugacity?—Nod friendly and keep working. Can you afford the distraction?
You are hitting on a chick?—Use your touch and eye contact, make her talk and invest. Do you really think words are seductive?
You were not addressed?—Keep your mouth shut. What do you need to prove?
Nobody is talking?—Do not break the silence. Why does silence make you feel uncomfortable?
Get rid of unnecessary words to declutter your mind. Talk less to empty your mind. An emptier mind can better get cool.
